Written Summary
The memory starts with Hunter in the air on a white and gold staff, looking at a town in the distance. There is a large, dragon like creature he's staring at over the town.

He sighs. "There's another way," he mutters and then in a flare of red energy, he goes streaking across the sky. Towards a skull and what appears to be truly massive ribs that made up part of the island. Before finally reaching a large structure. Despite being able to fly, he lands outside the guard tower, approaching with confidence.

He's stopped by one of the guards. "Hey, where do you think you're goin-"

Hunter points his staff at the guard, lifting him up in a veil of red energy that he struggles against. But seems unable to break free.

"Steve, I've had a veeeery long night. Open the door before I throw the newbie into the spike pit," he said, voice flat and unamused.

The other guard snaps to attention. "Yes sir! Um, please don't, I like this partner?" He said, quick to open the door. "Are you okay, your head is bleeding."

Hunter hums, ignoring the last question. "You know what, I like Steve. I guess I could," he said, his voice suddenly playful and he drops the guard. "Have a nice morning, Steve," he throws back cheerfully as he heads inside as a bridge extends.

"Dude, you're just letting some kid waltz in!" Said the harried guard.

"Shush! That's the Golden Guard," Steve said in a lower voice.

"What?! I knew he was young, but-" The voice gets too faint to hear anymore.

Hunter heads into the castle, past many guards and only a few people who aren't in masks. Palace staff, a mix of witches and demons. Older folks are surprised to see him, but he keeps walking past.

He heads to one of the higher tower rooms, closing the door behind him. He lets out a breath.

And then he's quick to move, grabbing a first aid kit, throwing it open and pulling out wipes to wipe away the blood with one hand, pulling out a book of maps with the other. "There has to be a nursery or a garden club with wood. If I can just get some of that, then its not a complete failure," he mutters to himself, quickly taking notes of addresses. "Just have to be gone before uncle wakes-"

Then a knocking comes at his door. "Golden Guard, sir! The emperor requests your presence!"

Hunter freezes. He sighs again, grabbing a bandage and putting it over a wound on his forehead. "I'll be there shortly," he called back. He pulls out a mix of armor and clothes to throw on over the clothes he came back in, brushing away some stray dirt from his hair, before leaving the room.

And entering a massive throne room with a very much large, beating heart there. The emperor is flanked by two Abomatons and its just the four of them in the room.

"Why are you out of uniform?" Belos asked.

Hunter kneels before him. "I lost my helmet in the crash. My ship was attacked by a rogue Manus Dragon," he said. "By the time I was awoken from some passerbys, the Palismen and the dragon were gone," he said, voice composed, but subdued.

There is a long, drawn out silence. "So you've returned with nothing. Is this the thanks I get for taking you in?" Belos finally asks.

"'Course not! I wanna help!" He insists, earnest and sincere. "A-a-and if you told me, how wild magic did this to you, I might be able to find a-"

He looks up just in time to see a plant like spike rocketing for his face, flinching away just in time to avoid it cutting his face. It still manages to cut some strands of hair away.

"My apologies. I spoke out of turn," he says as the vine pulls away, voice composed. Calm.

Used to this.

"It won't happen again."

Belos is then in pain. "These outbursts. Are painful. And so is watching you fail. I know you can do better, [#######]." His name is staticked out.

He is dismissed and with one last glance at Belos, he leaves, composed and serious. In the hall, he sees Kikimora, a short demon, is passing by, looking to suffer a rough night herself.

"Golden Guard? Y-you're alive? I-I mean, I heard about the crash in Latissa," she said with some measure of shock.

"Luckily, some travelers picked me up out of the wreckage, so I'm actually doing great. Looks like you had a rough night though," Hunter replied, quite a lot of arrogance and smarm in his voice as he turns and walks away from her and the memory ends.
